More Missourians than ever are waiting for transfer to psychiatric hospitals

The average number of people arrested, found incompetent to stand trial and ordered into court-ordered treatment from the Department of Mental Health has topped 500.

After decreasing slightly in September and October 2025, the average number of people awaiting transfer has increased to 518 in January.
