How much does a negative emission cost?

The market for engineered carbon removal is new, and prices are varying widely. There is often a huge gap between current spot prices and the average or max price paid per tonne in the past year.

CDR.fyi lists the spot price for direct air capture (DAC) as $233 per tonne, for example - but companies such as Aledade, Piva Capital, Klarna, Shopify and Stripe have all paid over $2000 a tonne.
