Nearly half of cases retained in adult court did not result in a conviction

Case-level data from July 12, 2021, through December 31, 2023, was provided by the Maryland Judiciary for defendants denied transfer. The judiciary considers case-level data for defendants granted transfer to be confidential. Juveniles age 16+ who were charged with first-degree murder are not eligible for transfer and have been excluded from the analysis. Unresolved cases have also been excluded.
