States are ranked by the percentage-point change over the most recent two years in the gap between the 90th-percentile wage threshold and the median wage. Positive values indicate widening wage inequality; negative values indicate narrowing inequality.

ⁱ Change in disparity is the percentage-point change from 2024 to 2025 in the gap between the 90th-percentile wage threshold and the median wage in each state. Because wage disparities are displayed as rounded whole percentages, some states may appear to have a one-point difference even when the change calculated from unrounded values rounds to zero.
ⁱⁱ “Top earners” represents the annual wage threshold for entering the top 10% of earners in each state.
