Most Missouri and Illinois tornadoes hit before June last year

In 2025, local scientists said tornadoes were unusually concentrated in the early half of the year in both Missouri and Illinois. Despite the drop-off halfway through the year, both states are close to breaking their records for tornadoes in a year, according to preliminary counts from the Storm Prediction Center.
