It has to be Chicago Booth and Northwestern Kellogg, right? They are business royalty in the Windy City…and they boast sizable student populations. Who else could be it be? Turns out, Stanford grads pull in the highest base pay in the Midwest. To add insult to injury, Berkeley Haas ranked 2nd. Ouch! In the Midwest, Stanford GSB grads earned $167,857 in 2021 – the highest average of any region. On one hand, this represents just 14 of the GSB’s 400 graduates. Still, the GSB base shows a $13,400 upswing over the previous two years. At the same time, GSB tied with Harvard Business School and Berkeley Haas for the highest individual base at $300K. Berkeley Haas shipped 6 students out to the Midwest, who collected $159,583 – nearly a $19 improvement over two years. By the same token, Chicago Booth graduates started at $150,306, which beat out cross-town rival Kellogg ($145,600). Another number that stuck out: Harvard MBAs are earning $14K less in the Midwest than 2 years ago (though a 13-student sample may be prone to flux).
