The number of currently hospitalized reflects the number of people with COVID-19 who are currently hospitalized in reporting hospitals, as reported daily by the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services. Because the response rate of that survey varies day to day, the rolling average of hospitalizations represents the average number of hospitalizations in a 7-day period.
