Percent of population living more than a 15-minute drive from a pharmacy

GoodRx released a report in September detailing different types of health care deserts nationwide with original data analysis. The report shows that 40% of counties across the country are classified as pharmacy deserts, where the majority of residents may have difficulty filling prescriptions. In some urban areas, like inner-city Baltimore, it may not be common for residents to have a car, so this map may not be an accurate representation. Also, high congestion may narrow the distance that can be covered by car in 15 minutes. Here are the tallies for Maryland.

Drive time was calculated with a straight-line distance from census tract centers and average driving speeds for urban, suburban and rural areas. Distances were multiplied by a detour coefficient of 1.417.
