More AVs, more miles driven on the hunt for parking

In a computer simulation that modeled how automated vehicles would try to find cheaper parking, researchers found that as the market penetration rate for AVs rises, so do the additional roundtrip miles traveled per vehicle. Unlike a human driver, AVs aren't frustrated by driving further in congestion to attain less expensive parking.
