Before October 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended a Blood Lead Reference Value of 5 micrograms per deciliter as an indicator for when local health departments should intervene to provide treatment and cut off the source of exposure. This chart shows the number of New York City kids per year who tested with lead levels above this mark.
