Scholarship Increases For Men's NCAA I Sports

To counter the proposed revenue sharing increases, the NCAA plans to change the scholarship restrictions on D1 sports and add roster limits. Baseball scholarships would increase by nearly 200%, from 11.7 to 34. This change helps the non-revenue sports that are largely excluded from the revenue sharing.

Ironically, a negative consequence will be cuts to non-revenue sports and further roster limitations because the cost of operation would increase, schools would lose the subsidies from basketball and football to revenue sharing, and scholarships to athletes are optional.
