Fatal police chase incidents, 2017-2022

At least 3,336 people across the country were killed in police pursuits from 2017 through 2022, according to an investigation by the San Francisco Chronicle. More than half of the fatalities resulting from pursuits were either non-driving passengers in fleeing vehicles or bystanders. Officers accounted for less than 1% of those killed.
