MBA Pay: Consulting

Like Finance, you’ll find the usual suspects topping starting pay in Consulting. Stanford GSB gads racked up $190,000 in starting pay (with just 15.1% of the class entering the field), 18 business schools reported graduates earning $175,000 to start – with another 13 schools clustered together from $165-$170K). One school that defies this trend: INSEAD. Despite 50.6% of graduates entering the field, the program averaged $133,749 to start in U.S. Dollars – lower than American programs like Vanderbilt Owen, Boston University Questrom, and Georgia Terry. Overall, Emory Goizueta produced the highest percentage of consultants. 54.6% of their hires entered the field (and earned $170,000 to boot). Dartmouth Tuck and Yale SOM saw 46.7% and 46% of its graduates choosing Consulting…and receive a $175,000 starting median salary. Overall, Bloomberg Businessweek reports that 31.3% of MBA graduates entered Consulting, the largest percentage of any field.
