US commits $180m to rebuild mining workforce

Federal funding will support 14 US mining schools and three selected institutions to expand mining education, workforce development and technology training.

The Department of Energy is allocating $100m across 14 mining schools to increase graduates with mining, minerals and associated supply-chain credentials. The Department of War is providing more than $80m to three schools for workforce development programmes and technology innovation hubs. The individual institutions and allocation per school were not specified in the announcement.
