National crime statistics coverage by state, 2023

In 2023, more than 15,000 local law enforcement agencies reported policing data to the FBI, which covered 85% of the U.S. population. But the state-level data paints a different picture: while the majority of states saw a near-perfect coverage rate, states like Florida, Mississippi, California and New York lag behind.
