Union density rates by "right-to-work" status based on year of implementation

Union density is defined as the share of workers in the state who are represented by a union, including union members and other workers who are covered by a union contract, based on the variable “union” from EPI extracts of CPS-ORG microdata. Michigan is excluded from this analysis because it switched its RTW status twice (it became RTW in 2013 and switched back in 2024) and so does not fit cleanly in any category.
