Identifying Dismissible Cases at Filing

This chart shows the percent of felony cases (a) declined at case filing and (b) dismissed after the charges have been filed. Identifying dismissible cases at filing reduces negative consequences for victims, defendants, and the criminal justice system.

Referral decisions only include felony cases referred and declined cases. Dismissed cases only include cases in which all charges are dismissed; this does not include Plea Dismissals. Referred cases grouped by referral date; dismissed cases grouped by dismissal date.
