Pessimists are respondents who choose answers most associated with negative expectations (their wages will be delayed or reduced, they will be fired, prices will rise), while optimists are those respondents who do not exhibit the aforementioned negative expectations when choosing their answers. The total for one component (question) of the index does not equal 100 since during calculations and visualisations, the answer “I struggle to answer this question” was excluded from the data, as were options deemed irrelevant to the respondent’s situation (for example, in questions regarding wages, the answer “Not relevant; none of the family members have been employed recently”).
