A Belleville News-Democrat investigation found that 33 nursing homes in the metro-east were cited for "infection control" deficiencies during the coronavirus pandemic, which government regulators say means they did not comply with standards that protect residents from infections like COVID-19. All of the cited nursing homes are listed below.
The BND analyzed their inspection histories and found that 19 nursing homes had been cited by regulators multiple times since 2017 for the same errors regulators say they made during the pandemic. Those nursing homes are shown in the two blue columns.
Seven of those nursing homes had been cited for the same error every year from 2017 to 2020. They are shown in the darkest blue column.
