Blackstone’s rising rents at its largest San Diego-area apartment complexes

Two years ago Blackstone, a private equity giant, bought 66 relatively low-rent apartment buildings in San Diego County. For at least the 10 largest properties, today’s asking rents are up – in one case up to 201% higher – for new tenants than average rates tenants paid in 2021.

Current listed rents are as of May 2023. Rental rates for existing tenants are unknown. Unit numbers are as of 2021.
