Between Censuses: Female Population and Prison Capacity

In 2016, the official capacity reported by the Irish Prison Service was 133 beds while the Office of the Inspector of Prisons reported that the working capacity was only 129 beds. This amended figure was based on international standards for minimum space required by men and women in prison.
