Sheriff Wants To Move Inmates To New Hart County Jail

The Oglethorpe County Jail stopped housing inmates in 2022, and those in custody were instead sent to Oconee County Jail. In 2023, inmates were again moved to Greene County. Sheriff David Gabriel said he hopes to relocate inmates a third time when the new Hart County Jail opens, which Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland expects to happen in late April.
