Top 10 kinds of nonprofits the 50 biggest US donors supported in 2023

The money that Phil and Penny Knight, Michael and Susan Dell and other big donors put into their foundations helped make them the largest destination for funds from the nation's biggest givers. Gifts to higher education, donor-advised funds, which like foundations set aside charitable money to give to nonprofits at a later date, hospitals, and scientific and medical research were the other most popular options.
