Nearly 1 in 3 crisis calls in the U.S. are rerouted out of state

The map shows several states where significant numbers of crisis calls are being sent out of state, including Texas, Florida, Alabama, Alaska, Illinois and Colorado.

Note: Illinois health officials attribute the state's low call answer rate to the fact that only 35 of the state's 102 counties were being served by local call centers prior to the launch of 988.
