The number of people found to have the hepatitis C virus while in Oklahoma Department of Corrections custody increased by 97% from fiscal year 2013 to September 2019.

DOC Director of Health Services Clint Castleberry said the increase, especially from 2017 to 2018, could be attributed to improved hepatitis C testing and better identifying the virus.
