Forehand and Backhand potency have been developed by Jeff Sackman of Tennis Abstract to measure the potency of groundstrokes. They add, roughly, one point for a winner and one half point for the shot before a winner, and subtract one point for an unforced error. Not all matches are covered in the match charting project - it is indicative, not exact.
