During the past decade, the average number of upsets during the NCAA men’s basketball tournament are 14 with brackets tending to be better during 2015 and 2019 when there are considerably fewer upsets.

Upsets are as a sporadic as the rest of the tournament – but they happen often. The most over the last 10 tournaments was 19 in '14, and the least was 10 in '15 and '19.
