Women victims of rape in Europe compared to the population

Average number or women victims of rape per 100,000 female population, between 2012 and 2022.

Sweden: The extremely high number of rape victims for Sweden is due to changes to Sweden’s definition of rape (in 2013 and 2018), that now include acts of non-consensual sexual contact, such as those committed against someone in a state of fear or unconsciousness. The range (high or low) of the average number per country depends on data availability, methodology of data collection by respective authorities and definition of rape. Due to these variables countries cannot be compared to each other.
