Usual principal and subsidiary status includes the principal activity (on which the person spent a relatively long time) and the subsidiary activity (on which the person spent a relatively short time but at least 30 days) of the persons who were not principally engaged in the labour force during the previous year. 2. Own account workers and employers operate their enterprises on their own or with partners. Employers hire labour, while own account workers do not. They may be assisted by unpaid helpers from their household, who do not earn a regular wage or salary.
