States Featuring an Increase in Impaired Driving Fatalities (2023)

According to NHTSA crash data between 2022 and 2023, the total number of fatalities due to an impaired driver (who was recorded as intoxicated by alcohol or drugs) fell from 1,366 to 1,113. During this period, 33 states were subject to a decline in fatalities due to impaired drivers, while significantly fewer (13) experienced an increase, and 5 saw no change at all.
