State Worker Pay Raises

State worker pay raises were catching up to inflation - until recently. The red line shows how much a $50,000 salary in 2005 would need to rise to keep up with inflation. The grey lines show how much someone in each unit making $50,000 would earn if their pay rose only by contracted amounts. The orange line is the median for all units.

NOTES: When units got a range of pay raises in a given year, this chart uses the midpoint of the range. Inflation rate changes cover November-to-November of each year.
