How much would the municipalities save?

Based on data from 2021, the municipalities could collectively save up to 750 million colones (about $1.2 million). The local governments estimate that three years from now, the volume of garbage will be higher. So woul the costs and, therefore, the savings that it will mean.

Carrillo would save more than Nicoya because it has a higher percentage of collection. In addition, Carrillo would save more than 15 million colones (about $23,000) in transportation alone, while Nicoya would have a loss in transportation.
