CPS students' math and reading skills remain below pre-pandemic levels

Between 2019 and 2023, Chicago Public Schools raised per pupil spending from $20,979 to $29,207. Still less than 30% of students met or exceeded grade-level proficiency standards in math and reading in 2023.
