Note: All income variables are calculated at the family level. “Other Income” includes veterans’ benefits, survivors’ benefits other than Social Security, workers’ compensation, education benefits, childcare benefits, unemployment, welfare benefits, and cash assistance from family and friends. The lowest income quintile is divided into two categories: those with incomes below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), and those with incomes above the FPL.
