Once rare in California public office, Latinos have expanded their political representation in recent decades. But the progress is not consistent for the state's largest racial or ethnic group, which makes up 39% of California's population (and 23% of Sacramento County). How the county’s school district boards compare with its city councils, supervisors and the state Legislature:

The following local governments declined to verify the racial representation of their elected officials: Isleton City Council and school boards for Arcohe Union School District, Center Joint Unified School District, Elverta School District and Galt Joint Union Elementary School District.
