Notes: In 2022, the value of the low-wage threshold is $19.69. The sample includes Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders (AAPI) who live and work in California, were employed the week before being surveyed but were not self-employed, ages 16+, and with non-zero earnings last week. The AAPI racial category is further disaggregated by regional subgroup, as described in the “Data and Methods” section of the Low-Wage Work in California Data Explorer 2024. Small sample size concerns persist, particularly among the Pacific Islander subcategory.
