Schools in Missouri tested positive for nitazenes within wastewater
Nitazenes are synthetic opioids that are five to ten times more potent then fentanyl. Missouri schools were able to volunteer for a wastewater surveillance program, which tested for the presence of numerous illicit substances. Out of the 37 schools who participated in the testing, 26 schools have tested positive for nitazenes since the beginning of the year.

The counties that had at least one school tested positive include: Holt, Clinton, Ray, Jackson, Barry, Lawrence, Greene, Webster, Texas, Shannon, Dent, Phelps, Gasconade, Boone, Cooper, Ralls, Lincoln, St. Louis County, Jefferson, Ste.Genevieve, Scott, New Madrid.
