While consumption stayed flat, oil and gas production rose

From 2000 to 2023, total U.S. energy consumption remained roughly constant from year to year, while U.S. production of crude oil and natural gas more than doubled.

Other production includes coal, renewables (wind, solar, hydropower, geothermal and biomass), natural gas plant liquids and nuclear electric.
Numbers are in quadrillion British thermal units.
