Supporters petitioned voters for the creation of two new political parties. Counties in teal are areas where a slightly larger margin of signers supported the creation of the Nebraska Working People Party while counties highlighted in brown represent areas where a slightly higher margin of signers supported the creation of the America First Party.
Leaders of each effort gathered more than the minimum number of signatures needed — 6,728 — to move ahead with finalizing the new parties. This total is about 2,200 valid signatures in each of the state's three congressional districts. However, dueling lawsuits from the Nebraska Republican Party and Nebraska Democratic Party seek to block supporters from having candidates on the 2026 ballot.
