Since January 2025 the Department of Homeland Security has hired private firms to find people, awarding contracts worth more than $5.1 billion for skip tracing, safety verification visits to unaccompanied migrant children, and fine collection from deported people. Several companies hold work in more than one category. One — Response AI Solutions — holds all three.
