Valley Fever cases in the San Joaquin Valley

Almost 74,000 cases of Valley Fever, or coccidioidomycosis, were reported in the San Joaquin Valley from 2001 through 2024. A majority of those cases were in Kern County, at the southern end of the Valley. Statewide, California reported more than 118,000 Valley Fever cases. Click or hover on a county for details.

Valley Fever or coccidioidomycosis is a respiratory disease caused by inhalation of spores from the fungus coccidiodes that resides in the soil in the San Joaquin Valley and other parts of the southwestern U.S.
