Both "Charlotte" and "William" appear nearly every year since 1900. 

But while their popularity is similar now, a longer time scale tells a different story.

"Charlotte" is marked as '0' for the years it does not appear - this does not mean no babies were called Charlotte, just that the number was fewer than 10.
