Party agencies:

Politburo
The main decision-making body of the party made up of 24 top party members,
meets at least once a month.

CCP Central Committee (CC)
Tasked to elect the party’s General Secretary and Politburo members, the CCP’s top political body
of 315 members, 168 full members and 147 alternate members, serves for five years and holds seven plenums over that period that last for at least three days.

Central Commission for Comprehensively Deepening Reforms (CCDR)
Chaired by Xi Jinping, the supra-ministerial body meets once every two months to decide on
policy guidelines on a wide spectrum of long-term reform issues.

Central Commission for Financial and Economic Affairs (CCFEA)
Chaired by Xi, the highest body for coordination and discussion on issues related to the economy meets once every
three or four months to lead and supervise work carried out by the Central Committee and State Council.

Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI)
The party’s anti-graft watchdog meets every January at a three-day plenum to review goals and tasks. Members serve
a five-year term and are responsible for enforcing internal rules, party discipline and persecuting corrupt officials.

Central Commission for Political and Legal Affairs (CCPLA)
The party’s top authority overseeing China’s security and police force meets every January.

Central Commission for National Security (CCNS)
Overseen by Xi Jinping and central to China’s unified national security system, this party organ supports and coordinates
the PRC’s “comprehensive national security.”

Central Party School
The Party School of the CCP Central Committee in Beijing, also known as the Central Party School (National School of Administration) is an institute for for training elite party cadres.

State organs:

National People’s Congress (NPC)
The national legislature of China serves a five-year term and has around 3,000 delegates who meet for about 10 days every March at the plenary session to vote on important legislation. The NPC has a Standing Committee, like a “permanent board” made up of over 170 policymakers that handles its business between the full sessions. It normally meets every two months for three days at a time but can call extra meetings whenever urgent matters come up.

State Council (SC)
Chaired by the Premier, the chief administrative organ of government meets in a variety of formats such as the executive meeting, plenary session and special topic study session.

Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)
The CPPCC National Committee is the national branch of the CPPCC which is a is a united front organization
serving as China‘s top advisory body.
