State College rape cases called 'assault' in police log

The State College Police Department's internal crime log is the first draft of crime statistics before submitting to the Uniform Crime Reporting system. It includes a description, or "nature," and a four-digit code, referring to an actual criminal offense, for each incident.

This searchable database includes all incidents coded as rape by the department from 2005 to 2024. Starting on page 14, rape incidents begin appearing with the "nature," or the description, as rape.

Some incidents were not given a description, and their "nature" was left blank.

State College police said 0210 is forcible rape; 0211 is forcible rape by a spouse; 0220 is attempted rape; and 0221 is attempted spousal sexual assault.

In the disposition column, ARA is cleared by adult arrest; ARJ is cleared by juvenile arrest; ECA is exceptional clearance of an adult; ECJ is exceptional clearance of a juvenile; NC is not cleared; OPN is open; UNF is unfounded; and CLO is closed.
