Chicago homicide victims by race, 2019-2022

Black Chicagoans made up 80% of homicide victims reported in the city since 2019. White Chicagoans were homicide victims in fewer than 4% of cases.

Demographic breakdown of 699 homicides recorded in 2022 CPD annual report. Total homicides figure increases with time as homicides are retroactively attributed to previous years in subsequent years. 2022 data is preliminary and will be revised in the 2023 report.
