Gap in Scores for Disadvantaged Students

The gap in PSSA scores between all students and those that the state classifies as "historically underperforming" widened after the pandemic for fourth graders in English, but was not as pronounced in eighth grade English, or for math scores in fourth and eighth grades.

The Pennsylvania Department of Education defines "historically underperforming" as students in poverty, English learners, and those with individualized education plans.
