More Than 5,000 Tenant Households Locked Out Every Year In Philadelphia

Since its peak in 2014, as Philadelphia took more measures to prevent evictions, the number of eviction filings in Municipal Court has been declining. Yet, more than 5,000 cases every year end with the Landlord Tenant Officer removing the tenant from the property and the landlord changing the locks.

The number of eviction filings in 2018 and 2019 are estimates by the Reinvestment Fund.
