This year, 24 regions recorded their highest number of deaths in May and June for at least a decade. In eight regions, June 2020 was the single deadliest month in 10 years — a stark fact given warmer months typically see fewer deaths in general.

Figures exclude Crimea and Sevastapol, which were added to Russia's population statistics in 2015, following the annexation of Crimea.
