SAFE-T Act gives Cook County fewer overall crimes

Comparing offenses by those released without cash bail to estimated offenses had cash bail remained in place. Assumes release rates, reoffense rates similar to year before SAFE-T Act.

Estimate arrived at by applying the release rate of those appearing in bond court to the total number of defendants held for first appearance under the Pretrial Fairness Act portion of the SAFE-T Act and applying the total reoffense rates for the Cook County Model Bond Court for each category of crime from Q3 2022 - Q3 2023.
