7th Ward Notable Places

Philadelphia’s 7th Ward played a crucial role in the civil rights movement, particularly during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The area was the hub for cultural and political activities, and it was also home to several prominent African American figures who contributed to the nation's social and political progress. W.E.B. Du Bois created the 7th Ward map in the late 1880s to represent the demographic patterns in the area and used it in his book "The Philadelphia Negro."
